Critter Kitchen brings the competition and creativity of Restaurant Week to Bistro Bay. You're running a restaurant competing against rivals to impress a celebrity food critic. Send your three Chefs out into the city to gather ingredients, complete food challenges, and prepare an epic final meal. The twist? You plan chef movements secretly and simultaneously, hoping to snag the best ingredients before opponents do. Programmed movement, variable worker powers, and a cast of unique animal restaurateurs and celebrity critics ensure every game is fresh and engaging.

How to play

Each round, players secretly and simultaneously plan which city locations to send their three Chefs to, hoping to collect ingredients. Different Chefs have different abilities: some are fast but carry only one item; others are slower but can carry three. Rumors scattered throughout the city provide hints about what the critic desires. Rounds 1–6 feature food challenges offering bonus stars for crafting dishes with specific ingredients. After round 7, all players create an epic meal to impress the celebrity critic. The critic's preferences (randomly selected each game) determine final scoring. The player with the most stars and satisfied critic wins.

Why you'll love it

Critter Kitchen succeeds because it combines worker placement strategy with programmed movement excitement. The simultaneous secret planning creates tension: you're hoping your chef placement strategy succeeds, but your opponents might have anticipated your move. The variable worker powers (different Chef types with unique abilities and carrying capacities) add tactical depth and asymmetry. The celebrity critic system (multiple unique critics with different preferences) ensures replayability: every game features a new challenge. The beautiful production—silk-screen printed animal meeples, comprehensive component set, and clear visual design—makes the game a table showstopper. Solo play with a dedicated solo mat makes it accessible for any player count. Perfect for strategy gamers, families seeking accessible worker placement, food lovers, or anyone enjoying animal-themed games with genuine depth. At 60 minutes, games are meaty without overstaying their welcome.
