Scattergories New Edition challenges you to think fast, be creative, and outwit opponents by writing unique answers to category prompts. Roll the 20-sided letter die, flip the timer, and write down answers for each category starting with the rolled letter. But here's the catch: you only score points for answers no one else wrote. The more creative and out-of-the-box your thinking, the more points you rack up. With 190+ categories, sturdy answer folders, and online tools (web-based timer and letter die accessible via QR code), Scattergories offers endless entertainment for family game nights and gatherings.
How to play
Players sit with answer sheets and folders. Roll the 20-sided letter die to determine which letter all answers must start with. Flip the sand timer (or use the online timer). Each player writes answers for the categories listed—things in your car, reality TV shows, famous animals, things you shouldn't touch, etc.—all starting with the rolled letter. When time runs out, players read their answers aloud. You score points only for answers no one else wrote. Duplicate answers score zero points; unique answers score one point. After four rounds, tally scores. The player with the most points wins.
Why you'll love it
Scattergories succeeds because it rewards original thinking over speed. You're not racing to be fastest; you're racing to be most creative. The 190+ categories ensure variety: every game features different prompts. The 20-sided die means you won't get the same letter repeatedly. Perfect for groups seeking a game that celebrates clever, lateral thinking. Ideal for families, friend gatherings, or anyone who loves word games with a twist. The sturdy folders are practical and keep the game organised. The online tools (web-based timer and letter die accessible via QR code) make gameplay flexible—no need physical components if you prefer digital. Ages 13+ ensures teen and adult cultural references and humour. At 30 minutes, games move at a comfortable pace. Works with 2–6 players, scaling nicely from intimate play to larger gatherings. The New Edition features updated categories reflecting modern culture and trends.
